Dave: Well we were at a prophetic conference at Morningstar Ministries in Charlotte. Rick Joyner’s ministry and we signed up for a prophetic ministry time with a small team and this team of several people gave us some wonderful words. My wife and I were just amazed at the timeliness of those words. But then as we were getting up to leave the room a young boy stood up and he pointed at me and he said, “Sir your about to walk down a dark corridor. The enemy is about to commit a grave tactical error because when you come out of that dark corridor you are not only be strengthened but you are going to strengthen other people. And at the time that Word did not mean a thing to me. And we just kind of tucked it away.
Sid: Although the Word didn’t mean a thing to you it was not a very comforting word. Weren’t you a little troubled?
Dave: No, it is not the kind you hope to get. I felt like I got a bad cookie at a Chinese Restaurant.
Sid: So you threw that cookie out and got another one. No, I’m just teasing.
Dave: (Laughter) didn’t throw it out, but the day that I was diagnosed with leukemia I went home. They wanted to admit me to the hospital immediately. I said, I need a night with my family just to pray and prepare for what’s ahead. I went home that night. As we were going to sleep that word came back to us and it spoke peace to us, especially the part about going through and coming out the other side. We realized you know, I’d read that passage in Isaiah where the Word of the Lord comes like snow and then like water. And I thought well, sometimes the Word of God hits me like water and immediately I know what it means. But this was like a snow Word. It sat up on the mountain and it was awaiting the right time to melt and it melted and trickled down into our hearts and gave us great comfort.
Sid: Now tell me exactly what the doctor told you, you had.
Dave: She sat down with me and said that they had done a blood test and they were going to do a bone marrow test, which only confirmed the fact that I had acute myeloid leukemia, which is the most aggressive strain of leukemia. Every one of my white cells that they tested were blast cells or inferior cells. Leukemia is an attack on the body’s immune system so it destroys and distorts white cells.
Sid: Did I hear you right? Every one of your good cells were bad? Is that what you were saying?
Dave: Every one of my cells designed by the Lord, the white cells designed by the Lord to fight off disease and infection. Every one of those was weakened by this attack of leukemia.
Sid: And the staff told you about how long might you have to live?
Dave: Well, this was Thanksgiving and they told me I would not see Christmas. So it was a month between.
Sid: What would happen if you had such a death sentence? 1. you wouldn’t be prepared, 2. I mean your healthy, you are just going on out to a doctor to get rid of a flue that seems to be handing on. What do you do? That is why I’m so excited about this four CD teachings series “Moving Beyond disappointment. It is not just sickness, it’s life, it’s promises from God that haven’t come to pass. It is promises in the Word that haven’t come to pass. It is discouragement that has gotten in and calcified your faith. You need to listen to this over and over again.
