RICHARD: Well that was a long time ago, or yesterday, or last year, or 10 years ago; but what about right now? So every day, what I would encourage people to do, Larry.

LARRY: Yeah.

RICHARD: when you get up in the mornings, say, Holy Spirit, it’s a new day. I’m inviting You to rise up out of my spirit.

LARRY: Yeah.

RICHARD: into my soul. Fill.

LARRY: That’s good.

RICHARD: ooh, I’m getting excited. Fill up my soul with the glory cloud of God.

LARRY: Ooh!

RICHARD: and manifest the Presence of God, through my body, so that I can be an instrument of righteousness today on this planet.

LARRY: Yeah.

RICHARD: Everyday, renew my mind.

LARRY: Yeah.

RICHARD: with the mind of God convict and stabilize my emotions. Empower my will. Liberate me from myself.

LARRY: Yeah.

RICHARD: so that my body can be a weapon.

LARRY: Wow.

RICHARD: of righteousness on this planet!

LARRY: (whacks desk)

RICHARD: Every morning we should be being filled with the Spirit of God!

LARRY: Wow.

RICHARD: Hallelujah!

LARRY: Well even as.

RICHARD: Amen! [laughs]

LARRY: you’re saying that, I feel, I feel led to share with whoever is watching. The Lord. I feel like the Lord [claps] is saying He wants to anoint your soul; He wants to anoint your soul.

RICHARD: That’s good.

LARRY: The Spirit of God lives in your spirit. we could take the whole time to teach on that. but the Spirit lives inside of your spirit, in that deep inner man. But you have a soul. a mind, will, and emotions. I believe the Holy Spirit wants to so saturate your life; that your mind. what you’re thinking about; your will. your desires; and your emotions. what you feel, are actually under the influence of the Holy Spirit. And so many of the people that we admire, so many of the people that we have seen go before us. our heroes, and the pioneers of the faith; even. even in recent years, people like John G. Lake, or Smith Wigglesworth, or Kathryn Kuhlman; these were ordinary people; trust me. But what they did is they made a decision with their lives to live under the influence of the Holy Spirit. So much so, it even actually saturated their bodies; soul and body. And that’s the thing; I believe the Spirit of God Who lives inside of you, He wants to rest upon you with power. Is that possible?

RICHARD: Well absolutely! And it’s not only possible; the Bible says this is for all of. Believers.

LARRY: Yeah.

RICHARD: for all time!

LARRY: Yes; yes!

RICHARD: And it’s not something just for some special holy people [laughing] back in the Book of Acts;.

LARRY: No.

RICHARD: I mean read the stories of these Bible people; they [laughing]. they were pretty bad!

LARRY: They were [laughing] pretty bad!

RICHARD: [Laughing] So bad, you know!

LARRY: Well you’re right! It says in the Book of Acts that This promise is for you, and your children[‘s children].

RICHARD: Absolutely.

LARRY: Yeah.

RICHARD: And even before the Prophet Joel. Who’s, you know, pre-dating Acts.

LARRY: Yes.

RICHARD: said the same thing!

LARRY: Yeah.

RICHARD: I will pour out My Spirit.

LARRY: Yes.

RICHARD: upon all flesh….

LARRY: Yeah.

RICHARD: So God loves us so much, He wants to have a relationship with us, But He’s in Heaven, and we’re down here.

LARRY: Yeah.

RICHARD: So He brings Heaven down here by giving us His Holy Spirit.

LARRY: Wow.

RICHARD: Who brings the life, and power.

LARRY: Mm!

RICHARD: and authority of Jesus on the Throne of God, into our being right here, so that He can live His overcoming life [tapping desk] through us.

LARRY: Yes.

RICHARD: right here. now. today!

LARRY: Yeah.

RICHARD: I’m getting excited, Larry!

LARRY: Ooh, goodness, I feel like.

RICHARD: [Laughing]

LARRY: Welcome to Something More. I’m your host, Larry Sparks, and today I’m going to tell you how you can actually be activated in the prophetic ministry. And you might be thinking, Wait; wait, wait, I’m not a prophet. How can I prophesy to people? Let me tell you 2 quick things because I believe it is biblically legal – in fact, your spiritual inheritance – to prophesy. In Ephesians 4, yes it talks about an office of a prophet. Just like you have pastors and apostles in the Church, you have prophets. And today I’m very grateful to have a guest who is a prophet, but let me tell you this. A prophet’s job is not just to hear God for you. I believe a prophet’s job is to get you connected with your prophetic destiny, and actually clear the airwaves for you to hear from God. Because even though Ephesians 4 talks about the office of a prophet, 1 Corinthians 12 and 14 actually encourages you. Paul encourages all Believers to prophesy. So today I have Hakeem Collins with me. And again, I’m – I’m so encouraged to know you, to read your material, listen to your material, –

HAKEEM: Yes.

LARRY: because you’re not being this voice saying, Hey, you know what, you got to come to me, to hear God; you’re actually helping people get connected with God, so they can prophesy. So just – just share with me a little bit, Hakeem, about the difference between the office of a prophet, and then the gift of prophecy, because I think there’s a lot of confusion about that.

HAKEEM: Yes, Larry, it is definitely. Allot of confusion about the gift of prophetic, or p- – I call it the gift of prophesying, –

LARRY: Yeah; yeah.

HAKEEM: or the office of the prophet. And the Bible is very clear, in Ephesians chapter 5, where God set in the Church first apostles, secondary prophets, and thirdly teachers. We see that God set these gifts – these ministry gifts – in the Church for the purpose of equipping the saints. Now we see that the prophet is a secondary ministry, but it doesn’t mean that they’re superior; it does not mean that they’re greater than any other gift. It’s just that God has a government; God has an establishment; God has a setting. And so the office of the prophet is a high responsibility –

LARRY: Mm.

HAKEEM: to the church, for the Believer to be equipped, into, their ministry. , but also there’s a difference as well between the office of the prophet and the gift of prophecy. And I believe there’s a lot of misunderstanding about that, and I believe it’s because of teaching.

LARRY: Yeah.

HAKEEM: And my heart really, as a modern-day prophetic minister is, really to bring understanding and clarity of the difference, because a lot of times because someone prophesied, doesn’t mean that they are a prophet.

LARRY: Yeah.

HAKEEM: and just because someone speaks the Word of God doesn’t mean that they have the responsibility that an office prophet has to the Church, so my job is, really to bring clarity. So as you stated, in 1 Corinthians chapter 12, it gives you the outline of the ministry –

LARRY: Yes.

HAKEEM: of the prophet. But also in 1 Corinthians, when Paul begins to give an outline of the parameter, I believe what the gift does, it is to edify the saints, to really build them up. I believe the gift of prophecy is to build up the saints.

LARRY: Yes.

HAKEEM: It’s, really to build the Church.

LARRY: Now hold on a minute here, because here’s – here’s the problem: I know back in, I don’t know, the 50s and 60s where – where we the prophetic being restored in many ways –

HAKEEM: Yes; yes.

LARRY: in the Church – t-to some degree in one wave – I think a lot of people have this – they’re a little bit scared of the prophetic, Hakeem. And I think they’re scared because they think a prophet is going to come, and, you know, call out all their sins.

HAKEEM: hm.

LARRY: Or they think, Okay, so I’m going to be activated in prophetic ministry. Does that mean I’m always looking for all the negative in people, and all that? But you’re actually talking about how it edifies; it builds people up;

HAKEEM: Yes.

LARRY: it’s constructive. So, you, please give us a definition, so we have a clear vision of what the prophetic looks like. What is it intended to do? How is it constructive?

HAKEEM: Well, the purpose of the gift of prophecy is to bring edification, exhortation, and comfort.

LARRY: Yeah.

HAKEEM: That is the boundaries that the gift does. It’s not the office , but it’s the gift.

LARRY: Yeah.

SID: So last night Paul and I were having dinner and the subject was brought up that I’ve taught on speaking in supernatural languages, in tongues and I started saying I pray in tongues one hour a day. And Paul said, ‘You really do it an hour a day.’ And I said, ‘Yes, and let me tell you why. The stuff you’re teaching I don’t know how anyone can survive if they’re not. Because when you’re praying in tongues you’re praying perfect prayers with perfect faith with perfect understanding of the future because it’s coming from the Spirit of God.’ So let’s suppose, for example, last night after dinner I am driving home and I get a call from my wife. My wife is in her car right behind me. She said, ‘Do you know your headlights are not on?’ And I said, ‘No I didn’t know my headlights were not on because everything is lit up like it is.’ Well someone had accidentally taken it off of automatic. My wife yesterday morning was not going to come to dinner yesterday and yesterday morning she said to me, ‘I’m coming to dinner tonight.’ I said, ‘Wonderful!’ I believe when I prayed in tongues that morning the Holy Spirit put it on her heart to come to dinner to drive behind my car to tell me that my lights were not on and save my life!

AUDIENCE: [APPLAUSE]

SID: My mother didn’t raise a dummy, I’m praying in tongues one hour a day. So because I said that, [turning to Paul] what did you do last night, you prayed in tongues the next morning, you prayed in tongues for an hour. What happened with you?

PAUL: Well, the Lord spoke to me through your sharing that you disciplined yourself to speak in tongues for an hour, and I’ve spoken in tongues and have all my life but I never disciplined myself to do it for an hour. So I was like groggy on west coast time, and I made a commitment I was going to pray in tongues for an hour, especially when you have to minister up here, and I was feeling about as spiritual as-a dirty carpet.

AUDIENCE: [LAUGHS]

PAUL: So I’m praying in tongues. First 20 minutes I don’t feel anything, and I’m just being obedient. After about 20 minutes that fog lifts, and all of a sudden the anointing comes upon me. Many of the things that I shared came from pictures and visions the Lord gave me. But what released it was the speaking in tongues. But I didn’t do it because I felt like it. I did it obediently but 20 minutes into it the glory of God showed up.

SID: And when the glory showed up God showed him things for the future. [Turning to Paul] What did he show you?

PAUL: Well what happened was I began [laughs], I’m laughing because I began to see pictures and visions. And I don’t use those words carelessly. But I saw this studio, I saw Sid, and I specifically saw the same golden light that I was describing in the vision that I had, I saw that golden light over Sid, over the studio, over me but over the other guests, and that golden light was being transmitted and it was pouring through the set into television sets all around the world. And it was a very clear thing, and that’s why I prayed in the nature that I did. And then the Lord showed me even more. He showed me many people are hungry for God, but they’re so biased against Christianity, but if they hear about a supernatural force they’ll listen. And then the Lord began to show me specifically that powerful leaders, powerful political leaders in the United States, other kinds of leaders, and specifically Russian leaders–

SID: By the way we’re on 5 days a week in the entire Soviet Union in Russian.

AUDIENCE: [APPLAUSE]

PAUL: Amen, praise the Lord! And the Lord showed me that these men were hungry for answers, that they had problems and their challenges. But talking about a whole bunch of God stuff wouldn’t relate to them, so talking about the supernatural force would intrigue them. And then I saw this glory coming out of this set touching leaders across the world and changing them. And then of course the Lord showed me that would be the first step in them coming to know Jesus Christ.

SID: [To audience] Now the supernatural information that the God has put into Paul McGuire I want you to learn some of that. You ready? You open ?
