Sid: Oh, I’ve got the funniest story about a shofar. As I told you on yesterday’s broadcast I just got back from two weeks of evangelistic meetings in Israel. I went to place where they make shofars, rams horns; you know they get the rams horns from say Egypt or Africa or places like that, and then they clean them out and they soak it to get rid of the animals smell. And it was really fascinating looking at this and I bought myself a rams horn and I’m not really good at blowing the shofar, but this one really sounds good; maybe at the end of the broadcast I’ll have my worldwide debut of blowing the shofar. So anyway I come back to the US and you know you fill out that little customs form and it says do you have any animal products? Well, I’m thinking the guy next me works for the Department of Agriculture you know on the flight I say “What do you think I should answer this, I have this rams horn, this shofar? Then he says “Well, you could go either way; so I said, “No.” But then my conscience got the better of me and so when they were interviewing me you know and I said, “Well, listen I do have a shofar, do you know what that is?” And he said, “No.” And I knew immediately that I was in trouble so I explained it was a rams horn, it’s a religious musical instrument. He said, “Oh, well you have to go into agriculture with this and he puts a number on my thing 1, I believe and he says’ “They’ll tell you what to do.” So I go to the next guard and I really want to make my connection, I don’t want to go into this little room that’s all lined up and be interrogated on having an animal part with me; but I’m stuck you know, and so this next guard whose suppose to send me to this little room, he looks at me and he says “Sid Roth I watch you on television, I love your show.” He didn’t even look at the little number on the form he said, “It’s so good to meet you “God bless you goodbye.” And I said, “Thank You Jesus!” And anyway my guest is Pastor Benny Perez and he is Senior Pastor at the Church of South Las Vegas; this is a four year old congregation that is going from 100 to 2,500. And the thing that excites me is not the size of the congregation, big deal you could have a seeker sensitive church that’s not sensitive to God and have 50,000 people and so what “Big deal.” I like churches where God shows up and you know Pastor Benny I was looking through my notes and there’s something you wrote in your book that really excited me and it has to do with your understanding of a subject that a lot of Christians are actually afraid of. And it’s got to do with casting demons out of people, you were talking about the realization of what the Lord showed you and I think it would be so helpful for our people to understand that.
Benny: Well, in the area with casting out demons one of the things that I have experienced Sid is even in my youth pastor days encountering the supernatural forces of darkness. One thing I’ve realized is that there is no wrestling match. I’ve found out that there’s truly power in the name of Jesus. And when we use that name out of intimacy, not just knowledge; I think that’s the key that people have to understand that it’s not just a knowledge of Jesus because you can go to the book of Acts and find the seven sons of Sceva that were just a knowledge we cast you out by the name of Jesus whom Paul preaches. That is not enough, we need to have an intimacy; we need to have a knowing that’s out of relationship, and when you have that incredible things begin to happen when you exercise the authority through the Name of Jesus over the realms of darkness. And I’ve seen that not just in church meetings, but I’ve seen that just in other areas of life, I could tell you stories of me having supernatural encounters of people on the street and when God shows up the powers of darkness begin to…
Sid: Tell me one that comes to mind.
Benny: Oh one that comes to mind I was in Seattle I was doing an outreach there up at Capitol Hill which is a densely populated area that is not Christian; it’s probably about as dark as you could be filled with homosexuality, a lot of runaway kids, street kids, it’s just a very oppressive area in the area of Seattle. We were up there and I’m just out on the street with some of the people that were ministering, talking with people, reaching out to the homeless, and a gentleman comes up to me on the street and he looks at me and he says “Please help me,” And I look at him and I said, “What is wrong Sir?” He said, “I am a drug addict and I’ve been to rehab and nothing can help me.” Now I have a background not personally of being a drug addict but that runs in my family; I notice that he had fresh needle marks on his arms. I said, “Do you want to be set free?” He said, “Yes.” I lay my hands on him on the street, on the sidewalk, the power of God hits him, he falls to the ground and starts writhing around and these guttural voices that are not him start to speak, they are demon, it’s demon power. Well the crowd starts gathering and somebody yells out “Oh, my god, call 911; this guy has an overdose.” I said, “Stop, don’t call 911 this is not an overdose that you think of, this is an overdose of the Holy Ghost.” And right there on the street we started casting demons out of this gentleman right on that sidewalk at Capitol Hill in Seattle, Washington.
Sid: Now, do you do this by faith or do you like have a word of knowledge or do you see in the Spirit? How do you cast these demons out?
Benny: Well, I mean and that incident Sid he just came up to me, when I laid my hands on him there was such an incredible manifestation of a demon that it was very apparent that it was there. There are other times…
Sid: Okay but when you cast it out do you feel something, do you see something or do you do it just sickly by faith?
Benny: Oh, I do it; for me personally Sid I do it by faith, but what do sense, what I sense in my own life is literally power comes literally out of my right hand. And literally…
Sid: Why the right hand and not the left?
Benny: You know what? I’ve often asked the Lord that and the right hand according to scripture is the side of authority, of power, Jesus is seated at what hand of the Father?
Sid: The right hand.
Benny: The right hand of the Father; so in fact my name Benjamin means “Son of my right hand.” My last name is Perez…
Sid: Well then it would be kind of dumb for the anointing to move through your left hand if your son of the right hand, but go ahead. [Laughing]
Benny: I tell people when I minister I said, “Shake my hand and I put out my right hand and I say “This is my power hand.” And many times people will laugh, but they’ll grab my hand and the power of God will shoot out of my hand physical manifestation of power. For some people “Oh my goodness man I feel this overwhelming presence, or I feel like this heat or this warmth, or I feel like electricity shooting through my body and I say “Well, that’s the power of God.” And many times if they’re demon possessed demons will come out; we’re seeing people get healed of various things.” I was in Florida, a great story; this came to my mind. I was in Florida preaching at a youth conference in Pensacola, Florida, probably about 2500 young people that are there. The worship was going and they were supposed to formally introduce me and I looked at the pastor that was running the youth conference and I said, “Don’t introduce me just let me come up.” So he let me come up and I just was talking about you know that in Jesus day in the disciples day that there was such power that the name of Jesus that when Jesus would just show up demons would cry out. When you read the Bible Jesus is teaching in church, the synagogue and demons start crying out. I always tell people, let me tell you you don’t have to go very far to find demons, demon posses people because they’re sitting in your church. If you get enough anointing in the church demons will start to cry out because they can’t handle the fire. And people will say “Where’s that in the Bible?” Well, when Paul was on the Island of Malta they built a fire and when the fire got so intense a viper was driven out because of the intensity of the heat. And it’s interesting when the intensity of the heat got so bad that that viper came out the viper bit Paul, we know the story and what did Paul Do? The same fire that drove that viper out, what did Paul do, is the same fire that will kill that viper and he shook it off in the flame. The same presence of God that causes demons to scream is the same presence of God that will drive them out. And so when I’m in Florida I just get up on the platform and I just start let’s sing about Jesus, let’s start singing about Jesus and we started singing the song about Jesus. Sid a fifteen year old boy rushes the platform demon possessed screaming.
Sid: That’s when the rubber hit’s the road!
Benny: And you and we actually have this on video; it’s incredible, even right now they could go to Youtube.com and just type in Benny Perez and it’s on there. We actually put that on our sight and you can go and see that. The kid rushes the platform, the ushers are taking off guard, he rushes me and I point to the ushers “Leave him alone.” He is literally Sid three inches away from me, three inches away from me and he can’t touch me and he’s screaming with his demonic voice “Jesus is dead, he’s dead, he’s not alive,” And right now, right there in front of 2,500 young people I point at him and I say, “In the name of Jesus I command you to bow your knee.” The kids start praying, the power of God comes, and you literally see in this video as if the hand of God if you could see in the Spirit was literally pushing him down on his knees and he’s screaming with a guttural voice that no young man could scream. We take authority over him, we cast the devil out of him and he comes to his right mind like the Gaterene demonic when they found him in his right mind sitting there; you see this take place. And not only that after that takes place seven – eight young people start manifesting demons and we start casting demons out. These young people are so fired up they’re praying in the Spirit, they’re worshipping Jesus. And now healing break out, broken bones are being mended, we’re ripping casts off kids, it was the most powerful moves of God they’re ever had at this youth conference.
Sid: I’ll tell you I’m thinking about the young people… we were talking yesterday that older businessmen are reading your books because the principals apply to business, but young people are reading your books and they are going from lukewarm to on fire for God; they are doing the works of Jesus. They’re doing the same things that you’re doing which is what’s your job is; that’s what a fivefold minster is supposed to do is to help others do the same if not greater than them.
